This project is in accordance with the Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS) Nutrition and School Meals (NSM) office recent awarding of 4.7 million dollar in IT Capital Funds. Over the course of the next 3 years, the NSM will up-grade and overhaul the districts Point of Sale (POS) cafeteria management system. In turn, these monies will be used to streamline efficiencies and minimize the manual labor activities in record keeping that are currently in place in our cafeterias and central office locations.

An Application System Analyst is responsible for determining the computing needs of a client and translating them into system specifications. Applicants are expected to have at least ten years of relevant work experience, ideally in a school or educational agency, managing school nutrition data applications and processes. Their duties include completing evaluations of hardware and software, giving advice to shareholders about their IT infrastructure and producing cost analysis of potential IT initiatives.

Some specific duties an Application System Analyst may be asked to perform include:

Training users on how to appropriately utilize their computer systems
Writing instruction manuals for systems
Consulting with managers to determine what role the systems play in the business
Testing the systems on a regular basis to ensure quality and function
Preparing costs and benefits analysis on systems
Brainstorming new ways to add more functionality to systems
Choosing and configuring the hardware and software of a system
