The State of Utah Departement of Government Operations, Division of Technology Services (DGO/DTS) is seeking two experienced z/OS Mainframe Systems Programmers.
The zOS Mainframe Systems Programmer is responsible for the development, installation modification, testing and maintenance, and performance monitoring and tuning of the operating system software for the IBM Z platform. Candidate must understand zOS systems programming, and the tools that support the zOS operating system and its control languages, and the coupling facility in a parallel sysplex environment.
Additionally, the role will modify and/or debug vendor-supplied utilities and packages and prepare user documentation for system software. Having experiences in the diagnoses and debugging of system software from a variety of mainframe vendor sources is an integral part of this role.
Functional knowledge and use of z/OS components, IODF configurations, Hardware Configuration Manager (HCM), Hardware Configuration Definition (HCD), Hardware Management Console (HMC), Workload Manager (WLM) and detailed knowledge of storage systems, support products such as tape management (TMS), batch job scheduling, security administration, monitoring systems, IPL procedures, CIMS billing, ICF catalog management, etc.
Working knowledge of Dell/EMC DASD including SRDF remote copy, Dell/EMC Data Domain and Disk Library for mainframe (DLm), and disaster recovery of DASD and TAPE using a Capacity Backup (CBU) system at a remote DR site.
Experience using Change, Incident, and Problem Management processes. Support and maintain SMPE zones for mainframe infrastructure product staging, Subsystems include CICS, JES2, DB2, MQ.
On-call and tier-2 support to operational and business communities is an important part of this role.
