Bachelor’s Degree with preferred experience in Mental Health or related field; or, high school degree with past experience working with youth in a group setting for at least 2 years.
This position will be expected to monitor and engage youth in a transitional cottage setting. Responsibilities will include: engaging in activities with youth such as playing games, puzzles, reading, talking, watching a movie; serving pre-prepared meals to youth and distributing snacks at appropriate times; monitoring youth as they engage in peer activities to ensure they are respectful, safe and engage in appropriate interactions with each other; remain mobile and moving throughout cottage to directly observe youth behaviors; monitor bed time preparations; monitor youth periodically when sleeping to ensure safety; utilize de-escalation skills when youth become agitated; and, alert on-site security guards when youth’s behaviors escalate or become aggressive. Previous experience working with youth will be helpful.
