The DHHS Information Technology (IT) Division seeks an experienced Network Engineer.
The DHHS Information Technology (IT) Division provides enterprise information technology leadership and solutions to the department and their partners so that they can leverage technology resulting in the delivery of consistent, cost effective, reliable, accessible, and secure services. The DHHS IT Division works with business units to help ensure the availability and integrity, and promotion of confidentiality of automated information systems to meet their business goals. DHHS IT Division’s primary information technology services are Application Management, Project Management, Privacy and Security, Financial Management, Health Information Technology, Infrastructure and Service Management.

The position provides support, installation, security, testing, and maintenance of the network infrastructure including Cisco and Dell switches, intrusion detection devices, firewalls, wireless and layer 2/3 devices. This includes enterprise network planning, high-level troubleshooting, security, and network system administration. The Networking Engineer also serves as a specialist for network products and services and researches new technology and additions for improvement to the network or other technology solutions for the clinical and business areas of the facilities. The Networking Engineer performs analysis to develop specifications and scripts to automate security and other technology functions.

Work involves the administration of network hardware and software, servers, data protection/backup (on-premise and cloud) and security systems inclusive of Cisco ASA (adaptive security appliance) firewall, wireless devices, Active Directory identity & access management, domain policy management.

Candidate must be local (able to travel to Dix Campus as needed) and should have reliable transportation. Work will be 1-2 days in the office per week and 3 days work from home to start. This may change to meet business requirements as projects are scheduled. Some off-hours work is possible (evenings or weekends) if projects require it.

A large portion of the work will be focused on firewall configuration, troubleshooting, monitoring, etc. but there will also be some Layer 2/3 hands-on network implementation/configuration work as projects are scheduled.

Experience Requirements:
The work will involve Firewall Rule Review and Implementation using Cisco ASA firewalls and Palo Alto NGFW. The position will also work closely with other DHHS Divisions and State Agencies.

Experience with ServiceNow ticketing and documentation.
Experience with SolarWinds Network Performance Monitoring.
Experience with Layer 2/3, SNMPv3, TACACS, STP, Cisco Catalyst Switch network support.
Experience with Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers and Cisco ISE.
