VDH is looking for a contractor to support the Data Management Team with Vital Statistics-related responsibilities. We are continuing our efforts to staff a vacancy with techniques in statistical data analyses, data warehousing, and process improvement.

Works as part of the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) Office of Information Management & Data Management Team to provide development, system analyses, technical support, and peer troubleshooting assistance to help improve VDH decision making, optimize performance, and achieve reporting requirements. Works closely with the lead analyst in assessing how to best supply Vital Statistics data to support VDH policy, legislation, and regulations to influence business decisions. Contributes to designing and supplying reports and statistics to VDH and other agencies that utilize Vital Statistics to evaluate and administer health programs. Contributes with development of standard & ad hoc reporting as well as data visualizations. Develops database objects including tables, indexes, views, procedures, and functions reports to support reporting requirements in vital statistics and other subject areas. Supports agency-wide data warehousing, data mart, and operational data store infrastructure, developing in SQL or PL/SQL on a regular basis. Effectively communicates with the team, supervisors, peers, data consumers and other technical staff in a professional and efficient manner. Evaluates requests and applies critical thinking and an analytical mindset to develop solutions, collaborates with team and technical users to implement solutions following the full application life cycle development practices and change control methodology.

Essential Tasks:
•Day-to-Day operational support for Office of Information Management & Data Management Team.
•Analyze source system data and determines best methodology for reporting data at any stage in the data-lifecycle
• Ability to translate and explain results to any audience by leveraging data visualizations and reporting tools
•Develop/Enhance processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness of data required for internal/external consumption
•Review data sharing agreements, provide insights about data to best suit their requirements
