Batch Scheduling Mainframe Vm/Vse Zeke
– Update calendars for the next year on Zeke
– Detail business requirements to run batch cycle
– Schedule jobs to run permanently on the proper automated schedule tools Zeke (Add new schedule, change predecessors, etc.), as per received detailed request (JRS), including steps what need to be done; suitable time to execute the change; Back-out procedure included; predecessor, successors, and Application development is available for support in case something goes wrong. Schedule jobs to run as per received technical request received with detail technical request (job, dependencies blackout)
– Schedule jobs to run temporary on the proper automated schedule tools Zeke (Add new schedule, change predecessors, etc.), as per received detailed request (JRS), including steps what need to be done; suitable time to execute the change; Back-out procedure included; predecessor, successors, and Application development is available for support in case something goes wrong. Schedule jobs to run as per received technical request received with detail technical request (job, dependencies blackout) ;
– Liaise with Developers and possibly users on run requirements.
– Support for Batch schedule Zeke/Zack for VM/VSE runtime issues;
– Resolve Batch Scheduling incidents Zeke/Zack for VM/VSE;
– Creation/amendment/deletion of ZEKE/ZACK scheduler items to support schedule changes and new applications.
– Resolve Batch schedule runtime issues
– Integration of new jobs into scheduled
Production Support:
– Promotion of mainframe applications into Production.
– Changes, promotion/deploying to production, expecting that DXC have background of what the program does, in order to create action plan WHEN is ok to deploy. Haven’t noticed so far back-out procedure. ;
– Checks of JCL control cards and Update.
– Support Operators on technical Job failures, as files not received/send.
– Support on NON technical Job failures, as program issue, application issue DXC not have to solve it, requires Business Knowledge.
– Detail technically recovery actions (restore files) based job steps run book.
– Detail technically recovery actions (restore files) based on Applications needs.
– Loading files to GOMAC/LINX (BULK Loader, Pending Loader etc.) –
Manual Process to upload a specific file detail by Business
– Detail need of copying files to QA or Camp Prep (sometimes both) from Production (not specifics again, example – “Can you refresh QA BIDS with Production data”) – In this case we need to know what is BIDS and what are the files (Standard Labels), we need to know what catalogs QA environment is using, and we need to find the file on production that needs to be copied to QA… Same goes if we want to do the refresh on Camp Prep environment.
– Copying files to QA or Camp Prep based on technical detail submitted by Application team ** requiring search for the file storage and create JCL
– Creating JCL to fix on going issues (including restore, restart from step, modifying variables)
– Operations seek advice from Batch Scheduling about Holiday dates for ARCC (financial jobs) and Manifest (For different markets including Morocco and Portugal) *** needs to be discussed: DXC prefers to maintain this topic and Avon prefer not to have this listed
– Housekeeping of important files (each Monday we need to review files if they have enough space and if not to take actions) – – Spanish Policies files or others received by email.
– On call for Batch Remediation team, when remediation team is not able to solve technical issues with the cycles. Most of time will require to escalate applications development team as well. *** Normally for others clients Apps support Batch Scheduling in case of problems. Lynda stated that for Avon EMEA, we will never request Apps support, only exception is program issues.
