ABOUT THE ROLE
Seeking project management support, to represent the City of Roanoke VA Technology Department, during combined software implementation of a new records & jail management system for the City’s Police & Sheriff Departments.
Records Management System (RMS) & Jail Management System (JMS) Software Replacement Project
Time frame:
Mar 2022 – Sept 2023 (~1.5 to 2 years)
Hours per week 16-20 /week: Pls make sure your candidate is aware: Estimated at 16-20 hours per week. Based on internal discussions, and project budgeting, they are only estimating approximately 20 hours per week for the life of the project. No plan to change this.
Background Information:
The City Police Department has been using Southern Software’s Record Management System (RMS) (formerly Police Pak) since 2002. The current solution is falling behind industry trends, not meeting development standards and being more unstable while also not including advanced technology, better integrations and enhanced features. The City is looking to replace this system while also incorporating several other systems such as CAD to RMS interface, evidence management, barring, narcotics investigations, local queries from CAD, and civil processes. In addition, this replacement will better position the City to potentially replace police online reporting and Crimeview.
Current Project Status: (waterfall approach)
The City has already ‘activated’ this project and recently signed a contract with Motorola Solutions Inc. (MSI). A kick-off meeting is anticipated to occur in February 2022 and design work to begin shortly after.
