The position is funded by CDC and its main responsibility will be to provide epidemiological support to the Tennessee Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Information System (TN EHDI IS). Under the general guidance of the senior epidemiologist, the incumbent will work together with the TN EHDI team and other internal and external partners to optimize the TN EHDI surveillance practices and information system in order to improve timely documentation, reporting, and analysis of hearing screening, diagnostic and intervention data. S/he will also be assisting in program and performance evaluation activities. Some of the specific responsibilities include:
· Create hospital specific reports on key performance indicators.
· Create data quality reports for individual records that have conflicting or missing hearing information.
· Conduct basic descriptive epidemiologic analyses and report findings to program director
· Conduct health and risk assessments and assist in program evaluation activities.
· Provide epidemiological expertise to stakeholders, program EHDI staff, and providers across the state.
· Use SAS or other equivalent software to statistically analyze, clean and certify data.
· Present EHDI data results to various audiences in national EHDI or local taskforce meetings.
· Assist with preparing reports for CDC, partners, and other stakeholders.
· Prepare the de-identified data in accordance with CDC specifications and submit as specified in the grant requirements.
· Develop and maintain effective professional relationships with internal and external partners.
Qualifications:
· Master’s degree in epidemiology, biostatistics or similar disciplines.
· 2+ years of experience in applied epidemiology or public health surveillance.
· Proficiency in SAS programming.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills.
· Experience with program evaluation.
· Experience in cleaning and analyzing large datasets is preferable.
· Experience with grant writing is preferable.
