Position will be 100% remote unless HHSC changes existing telework policy. May have to report to the office for occasional meetings or if there are connectivity issues. Prefer candidates within the state of Texas (no out of state).

This Senior Developer Contract Position is a member of the DevOps (environment management) team, works under minimal direction with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. The ideal candidate should possess a keen mind for solving tough problems with the ideal solution, partnering effectively with various team members along the way. Candidate should be flexible with a strong desire to implement change, growth, and maturity. Works in a fast- paced environment. This position is central to ensuring applications and services remain available and in service for HHSC Staff and the citizens of the State of Texas.
Responsibilities:
• Architect, design and implement secure build and deploy automation solutions, enhance and maintain existing automation.
• Establish, maintain and evolve concepts in continuous integration and deployment – CI/CD pipelines for existing and new services.
• Write clean, stable and safe code in short time frames and frequent increments.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Operations teams to improve automation of workflows, infrastructure, code testing and deployment.
• Identify systems that can benefit from automation, monitoring and develop and scale products and services accordingly.
• Provides environments/operations triage support to troubleshoot & resolve build and deploy issues encountered in production, development, and test environments. Responsibility includes both workday and night/weekend on-call support as required to maintain high availability of the applications for all users.
