Web/Mobile Developer with AWS, data modeling, ETL, web services/REST/SOAP, JSON, API management and ESB deployment experience

Duration: 39 months (1456 hours)

Minimum Requirements:
Years Required/Preferred Experience
4 Required A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in computer science, computer information systems, or related field. A combination of education and/or related experience may be substituted for the degree on a year for year basis.
4 Required Web/Mobile Application Software development using widely adopted languages and frameworks and in object-oriented programming.
4 Required Demonstrated levels of creativity and ingenuity in prior projects.
2 Required Software development experience with AWS solutions is required.
3 Preferred Certified Advanced Developer or equivalent experience.
3 Preferred Experience with relational databases, data modeling, and ETL.
3 Preferred Experience with web services (REST & SOAP, JSON & XML, etc.).
3 Preferred Experience with API management and ESB deployment.

This position provides work/life balance with 13-hour work week in years 1 and 2 (development), and 4-hour work week in year 3 (maintenance and support), and travel limited to occasional team meetings.
The primary work location(s) will be at Dell Medical School, 1601 Trinity St., Austin, TX 78712. Any and all travel, per diem, parking, and/or living expenses shall be at the Candidate’s and/or Vendor’s expense
The University of Texas at Austin on behalf of the Dell Medical School requires the services of one (1) Developer , who meets the general qualification of Developer/Programmer 2. The services will be performed on the Amazon Web Services environment maintained and supported by The University of Texas at Austin.

Key responsibilities of the Developer role include:
Serve in a technical capacity as the application developer lead to understand the requirements of the project and devise a plan for the best platform to be utilized and how to use that platform to achieve the goals of the project.
Develop a web-based application in the selected platform and/or frameworks that support the needs of the project and users to deliver an application to collect data from contributors and deliver reports and business intelligence visualizations as required by the project team.
Develop, maintain, create, and improve validation rules, custom workflows, customizations, and new features.
Design in collaboration with the Data Administrator and run automated data imports, programmatic data mapping, and data transformation using best practices and tools.
Perform hands-on software development, unit testing, integration testing and other best SDLC practices to guarantee systems perform as designed.
Perform security assessments of the architecture and application in collaboration with the Information Security Office and make required adjustments to eliminate vulnerabilities.
Use best practices for continuous build, release, enhancements and bug fixes as needed to the platform.
Provide technical assistance for end-user troubleshooting for bug fixes, enhancements, and “how-to” assistance.
Work with REDcap team to access and integrate data via API with the project application.
Design and develop ways to integrate application within the workflow of the participating sites so that users’ burden is minimized.
Work with the project team in the creation of visualizations and reports templates and translate those into live dashboards that will be accessible within the application.
Develop the required documentation for the system that would allow future developers to effectively manage and make adjustment to the application and its components.
