Knowledge & Experience
-Minimum of five years of experience in the above listed Technical Skills is highly preferred
-Minimum of ten years of variedsystem development experience is highly preferred
Educational Requirements
-Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
-Five years of varied system development experience may be substituted for the degree requirements (above and beyond the ten years necessary in the knowledge and experience section)
Position is responsible for the performance, data integrity, and security of the agency’s Oracle, MS SQL Server and MySQL databases and critical applications.
Provides database backup and recovery strategies, and provides guidance to Application Services Bureau (ASB) personnel when problems arise; Installs, configures, and tests Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL software packages and new software releases; Monitors database performance and statistics, and conducts maintenance to ensure efficient system operations; Configures and maintains Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL replicated database environments, utilizing databases located in multiple sites, for high availability and disaster recovery purposes; and Administers critical DOJ applications including Apache Tomcat and JBoss hosted Java applications.
Successful candidate will be required to pass a fingerprint-based background check and an in-depth background investigation. The hours will fluctuate depending upon need and mutual agreement.
This position is for 10 – 40 hours per week, as needed. Position will need to be onsite in Helena, MT.
This position will begin work October 2021 through October 2022. Extension of time is possible.
Responsibilities
-Specify which users can access databases and what data can be accessed by user
-Backup and restore data to prevent data loss
-Run test programs and corrects errors
-Configure database parameters
-Monitor database performance and conduct performance-tuning support
-Support user needs by using existing tools to extract data and answer questions
-Install upgrades and patches
-Ensure data security protocols are in place and functioning
-Assist and/or Advise developers on proper SQL coding methods and SQL troubleshooting
