Experience:
A minimum of 7 years of IT work experience, including 4 or more years managing projects. Experience with projects in multiple technologies and functions.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or other related field. Or equivalent work experience. Project Management certification or successful completion of a recognized project management curriculum is preferred.
Position Summary: The Smart City Administrator leads the development, implementation, and oversight of smart city initiatives that leverage emerging technologies (like IoT, AI, and cloud platforms) to improve urban infrastructure, services, and quality of life. This role bridges city operations with innovation, ensuring projects align with strategic goals and community needs.
Scope of Responsibilities:
The Smart City Administrator is responsible for defining, planning, and implementing technology-driven initiatives that enhance urban operations and citizen services. This role involves gathering and translating business requirements into actionable strategies, aligning smart city projects with citywide goals and departmental needs. Core responsibilities include stakeholder engagement, infrastructure modernization, data-driven decision support, and coordination of cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of smart technologies. Emphasis is placed on evaluating platforms for cybersecurity, connectivity, sustainability, and service delivery. The Administrator will also oversee documentation and performance metrics to guide future improvements and investment decisions. Additional duties may apply.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Visioning
Develop and execute a long-term roadmap for smart city transformation.
Align technology initiatives with citywide goals and stakeholder expectations.
Business Requirements & Analysis
Identify and document business needs across departments.
Translate operational challenges into technical solutions.
Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for proposed projects.
Project Management
Oversee pilot programs and full-scale implementations.
Coordinate cross-functional teams including IT, urban planning, and external vendors.
Monitor KPIs and ensure timely delivery of smart city projects.
Stakeholder Engagement
Collaborate with city departments, community groups, universities, and private partners.
Facilitate workshops and consultations to gather input and foster buy-in.
Technology Oversight
Evaluate and recommend smart technologies (e.g., sensors, data platforms).
Ensure compliance with data privacy, cybersecurity, and regulatory standards.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Promote a culture of innovation within municipal operations.
Track emerging trends and assess their applicability to city needs.
