The Field Technology Services team is seeking someone with strong technical skills to manage, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and update software, hardware, and networking as necessary to support the Virginia Department of Corrections’ (VADOC) education, programs, & operations efforts for VADOC sites and facilities.
Field Technology Specialist provides technical advice, guidance, and implementation of complex work items involving educational and DOC Operations software products such as AZTEC, Lexis Nexis, GED Academy, Auto CAD, Teknimedia, Alexandria, Elevate and similar software packages. Provides technical support of complex work problems involving computer technology to include workstation and server hardware, software and operating systems, networking hardware, software and infrastructure, and various operating systems software. Responsibilities include independently installing, updating and management of applications and hardware at the assigned facilities.
All candidates must be comfortable going onsite to DOC facilities. This person will be working within the Field Technology Operations team, so they will be required to travel to different sites. Will do our best to allow remote work when possible, but the nature of the work requires an onsite resource.
Work experience in the computer support field. A combination of desktop, server & network support is required within a fast-paced, delivery oriented agile environment.
This position must be able to perform with minimal direct supervision and may be required to use their home as a base of operation. Significant travel (usually day trips) may be required.
