QUALIFICATIONS
Candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
Candidate must demonstrate 5+ years of experience with web development in C# using ASP.NET and ASP.NET Core. Provide the number of years you have in web development with an example using ASP.NET and ASP.NET Core.
Candidate must demonstrate 3+ years of experience with C#. Provide number of years working with C# and an example of where you used C# to develop a solution.
Candidate must demonstrate 3+ years of experience writing unit tests. Provide your number of years with description of experience.
Candidate must demonstrate 3+ years of experience with multiple JavaScript Frameworks (Angular, React, Vue). Provide your number of years of experience and which frameworks you have applied.
Candidate must demonstrate 3+ years of experience with Relational Databases and SQL (Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL). Provide number of years of experience in relational database and SQL plus explain how you have applied them.
A plus if candidate can demonstrate experience with cloud-based environments (Azure, AWS). Provide an example of your experience using a specific cloud-based environment.
Candidate must demonstrate 3+ years of experience working with Agile methodologies. Provide your number of years of experience using Agile methodologies and an example of how you applied them.
A plus if candidate can demonstrate experience with Git Flow source control methodologies and correctly resolving merge conflicts. Provide an example where you used Git Flow Source Control methodologies and resolved merge conflicts.
Candidate must demonstrate experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs. Provide an example where you used RESTful APIs.
Candidate must demonstrate practice with Asynchronous programming patterns. Provide an example of how you have used asynchronous programming patterns.
A plus if candidate can demonstrate understanding of CI/CD processes and familiarity with available tools (Azure DevOps, TeamCity). Explain how you have implemented CI/CD processes and the tools used.
Candidate must demonstrate ability to troubleshoot and resolve application issues in a timely manner. Give an example of a time when you had to solve a complex problem.
Summary:
The Utah State Board of Education (USBE) is working on a comprehensive modernization initiative to replace our legacy systems, referred to as the Utah Schools Information Management System (USIMS). Working for the USBE is a rare opportunity to use a combination of the latest technologies, best-of-breed software packages and custom development to deploy a refreshed code base and associated reporting applications and reports. We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join our team.
To be a successful candidate, you will need to have a keen attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a solid knowledge base in CI/CD processes and familiarity with available tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, TeamCity).
Responsibilities:
•Collaborates with project team members (operations, engineering & product management) to create secure, reliable, scalable software solutions
•Participates in multi-person and multi-team projects to produce clean, efficient, self-documenting and testable code based on user story acceptance criteria
•Tests, maintains, debugs and upgrades existing software to ensure strong functionality and optimization
•Collaborates with the team by reviewing code, writing documentation, participating in retrospectives and refining best practices
•Works in an Agile environment that encourages incorporating user feedback and making improvements
•Integrates third-party software components as required
•Contributes to enterprise-wide tooling to streamline development and deployment processes
