Required Skills and Experience:
•Required: 10+ years of professional experience in large scale, distributed environment, System Z, Cloud and Hybrid architectures, experience in multiple technologies and multiple roles.
•Required: Minimum of 3 years as an IT Architect focusing on software technologies and the IT infrastructure required to support COTS and home built applications
•Required: Fluent in high availability and recovery design, techniques, architectures, and technologies across IT technologies.
•Required: Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills necessary for various audiences including executive management.
•Desired: TOGAF certified.
•Desired: ITIL Foundations certified.
•Desired: AWS / Azure certified Cloud architect.
Position Description:
The Sr. IT Infrastructure Architect’s role is to develop and maintain the high-level design plan for the overall logical and technical IT Infrastructure architecture concerning technologies. The individual will provide technical leadership and consulting across the organization, from the strategic decision making down to the project level. The candidate will help PennDOT develop and solidify strategies for overall computing needs. The IT Infrastructure Architect will gain organizational commitment for all high-level infrastructure plans, and initiate and participate in projects to evaluate technologies and methods for implementing these plans.
Responsibilities:
•Serve as a lead infrastructure architect whose responsibilities include design, develop, and oversee implementation of end-to-end integrated systems
•Oversee the IT Infrastructure evaluation, selection, design in order to support major applications development and production support tools and platforms
•Develop architectural guidance for applications developers, define target platforms, interface designs, development patterns and styles, and development languages and tools to be used
•Maintain in-depth knowledge of PennDOT’s strategic business plans.
•Provide Infrastructure Architecture consulting expertise, direction, and assistance to System Analysts, System Engineers, and other IT Architects.
•Document and develop in-depth knowledge of PennDOT’s existing IT architecture/infrastructure
•Develop, document, and communicate technology standards
•Work closely with the Bureau of Business Solutions and Services and business owners to understand and develop business / functional requirements and corresponding technical solutions
•Work independently and with other IT service providers in independent research, infrastructure design and development
•Monitor industry trends and directions; develop and present substantive technical recommendations to Agency senior management.
•Conduct research on emerging IT Technologies that will increase cost effective and infrastructure flexibility
•Review existing PennDOT IT Technologies in order to understand how they are exploited along with providing recommendations of how to reduce cost along with suggestions to improve the IT infrastructure flexibility.
