The Public Health Administrator 1 will participate in Emerging Infections Program (EIP) projects. 1 Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in epidemiology, public health, biostatistics, statistics, or health informatics.
OR:
Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in a health science, biomedical science, or environmental science field with experience equivalent to two years’ work experience in epidemiology.
Desired Qualifications:
•Experience writing statistical and analytical programming code in SAS or R
•Experience in MS Office, Excel, Access
•Strong written and verbal communication skills
•Experience with developing data visualizations using Tableau, Excel, or SAS
•Experience developing, maintaining, and entering and extracting data from REDCap databases
•Background in infectious disease epidemiology.
Position Description:
The Healthcare-Associated Infections and Antimicrobial Resistance (HAI/AR) Program within the
Communicable and Environmental Diseases and Emergency Preparedness (CEDEP) division of the Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) is currently seeking a Public Health Administrator 1 position. This position is currently funded from year to year through CDC cooperative agreements (grants). Some in-state and out of state travel is required.
The Public Health Administrator 1 will serve as the program’s Data Visualization Lead and will provide data visualization support for the entire program. This position will create visualizations for statewide surveillance trends for external and internal use. Data visualizations will be created in Tableau, Excel, and SAS.
This position will also lead a new collaborative project created by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This CDC-created project is an HAI/AR Program Analytics & Evaluation Collaborative. In coordination with CDC, this position will be the primary liaison with CDC colleagues. This position will oversee and will evaluate the effectiveness of select HAI/AR prevention and response strategies. This position will be responsible for participating in regular meetings (e.g., monthly) and will take part in a minimum of 2 collaborative evaluation projects annually, which may include collecting and sharing standardized data. This position will be encouraged to conduct additional evaluations of a prevention or response activity within their jurisdiction and share the findings with other sites through presentation, publication, or some other means.
This Public Health Administrator 1 will also participate in the HAI/AR outbreak team which will include leading outbreak and infection control breach investigations. The Public Health Administrator 1 will participate in Emerging Infections Program (EIP) projects.
Job duties will include:
Perform programmatic project management activities related to the HAI/AR Program Analytics & Evaluation Collaborative
· Monitor, collect, and analyze data for the HAI/AR Program Analytics & Evaluation Collaborative
· Share results from the HAI/AR Program Analytics & Evaluation Collaborative analyses with external stakeholders
· Create data visualizations, upon request, for statewide surveillance trends and other HAI/AR activities (i.e., Tableau, SAS, Excel)
· Provide consults to teach colleagues best practices for data visualization techniques
Participate in grant development, writing, administration, and monitoring to ensure compliance with grant requirements
· Participate in HAI- and MDRO-related projects, including an Emerging Infections Program (EIP) point prevalence study of HAIs and antimicrobial use, onsite and remote validation of HAI data, and other special projects as needed.
