This position is for an Epi 1 in a new role on the Genomic Epidemiology team in the COVID-19 Program.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:
Support and monitor genomic data reporting within the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS) Base System (NBS).
Perform data cleaning, quality assessment, and data management activities on state-wide genomic and variance data.
Complete data requests related to COVID-19 genomic data, generate reports, and summarize findings.
Under supervision, conduct epidemiological studies of COVID-19 variants. Support data analysis and statistical analysis on both large and small datasets.
Nurture partnership and collaborations with external and internal partners on various projects.
Support program planning and outreach activities to expand genomic surveillance within TN.

Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in epidemiology, public health, biostatistics, statistics or health informatics. OR: Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in a health science or biomedical science with experience equivalent to one year of work experience in epidemiology.

Strong technical skills in: Excel, SAS, SQL, Tableau
Strong critical thinking skills
Ability to effectively manage responsibilities while taking initiative to solve problems
Efficient time management skills
Proficiency with computer software including Microsoft Office products
A quiet, distraction-free workspace
High-speed, wired internet connection
Ability to work 37.5 hours per week
