Skills:
Detail oriented, technical resource with in-depth knowledge of versions of MS SQL 2010 through 2016. Required 8 Years
Ability to create technical documentation for database structure, maintenance procedures, troubleshooting tasks. Required 8 Years
Ability to listen and work effectively with technical and non- technical stakeholders. Required 8 Years
Demonstrated ability to research, plan and implement MS SQL database version upgrades. Required 8 Years
Experience efficiently and effectively complete discovery of existing web applications dependencies and configuration with MS SQL databases. Required 8 Years
Demonstrated ability to manage databases and work with developers to create a stable application environment. Required 8 Years
Familiarity with current Commonwealth of Virginia infrastructure/MS SQL environment and its security controls. Highly desired 1 Years
VDEM requires an experienced MS SQL DBA to assist in short term application discovery in support of COV transformation activities.
The database administrator will assist the current applications manager will the following:
1) Assessing and document the current state of all agency MS SQL servers – to include all instances per server, dependencies, backup and maintenance schedules, applications that are dependent upon the instance, types of connections, authentication types (AD, SQL Server, hybrid)
2) Develop a plan to migrate the current databases to MS SQL server 2016 (currently supported COV version).
3) Work with application manager to ensure the plan is socialized and refined for the business owners and users.
4) Create documentation for daily, weekly and monthly administrative tasks.
5) Develop test plan to use for monthly patching cycles and for application upgrades and patching for the standard operations and maintenance for the applications.
