Required Education/Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related area and three (3) years of experience with computer system development and modification or an associate degree with five (5) years experience or equivalency. Extensive knowledge of hierarchical databases. Some knowledge
relational databases. Effective working knowledge of microcomputer software packages (MS Office). Excellent analytical skills.

SCOPE OF THE PROJECT:
This position organizes, plans, designs, programs, tests, debugs, installs, and maintains critical University computer systems in support of the mainframe HR, Payroll, Finance and business systems. Serves as senior technical staff member for assigned projects. Provides consulting services to customers and helps provides solutions to complex problems. Assists upper management and user in assigning priorities and planning future activities. This position will also be directly involved in migrating these systems from the mainframe to an alternate platform.

Daily Duties / Responsibilities:
Order of Importance
– Review requests for services, provide analysis and design options to meet identified system needs.
– Programs, tests, and debugs critical mainframe applications and batch processes.
– Prepare system specifications, develop projects schedules, with meaningful and observable milestones, and assign tasks. Identify and eliminate inhibitors.
– Maintain written documentation for assigned systems, write, test, and implement complex computer programs and systems.
– Resolve one time emergency problems to ensure successful operation of Administrative Systems. Research inquiries from users. Assist with ad hoc reports. Coordinate production schedules among administrative areas at critical time frames.
