The Virginia Office of Data Governance and Analytics is an exciting new agency under the Secretary of Administration. The agency’s primary focus is Data Sharing and Data Governance. The agency manages the Commonwealth Data Trust to facilitate data sharing across the Commonwealth and its partners; and provides administrative support to the Commonwealth Data Commission, Executive Data Board, Data Governance Council, and Data Stewards Group. In addition, the Office of Data Governance and Analytics (ODGA) will provide guidance, support, oversight, and technical assistance to data trust member agencies and Commonwealth organizations in the implementation of data governance, sharing, security, and analytics projects.
Responsibilities:
•Understand business requirements in BI context and design data models to transform raw data into meaningful insights.
•Utilize Power BI to build interactive and visually appealing dashboards and reports.
•Developing visual reports, key performance indicators (KPI) scorecards, and dashboards using Power BI desktop.
•Analyzing data and present data through reports that aid in decision-making.
•Convert business requirements into technical specifications and decide timeline to accomplish.
•Create relationships between data and develop tabular and other multidimensional data models.
•Chart creation and data documentation explaining algorithms, parameters, models, and relations.
•Connecting data sources, importing data, and transforming data for Business intelligence.
•Excellent communication skills must be able to discuss the requirements effectively with the client teams, and with internal teams.
Competencies Required:
•2-3 years minimum experience In Data-Specific Roles.
•Must have SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases.
•Must have experience with Power BI.
•Understanding of the Microsoft BI stack.
•Experience with cloud technologies is a plus.
•Strong written and verbal communication skills.
•Ability to work cross team and collaborate with others.
•Solid debugging, testing, and problem-solving skills.
