VDOT is seeking an experienced GIS Developer/Analyst with a solid GIS background and experience with ESRI ArcGIS product suite.
The selected candidate will assist with the development and implementation of the ESRI software suite
(desktop and web based), GIS data development and maintenance, and GIS workflow design.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
Performing work that is related to the development, integration, and implementation of GIS systems and databases; programming to create, maintain, display, and update the enterprise geographic information system; implementing GIS analysis and mapping solutions and other technical work related to GIS as needed by the Division; creating new data products using the ESRI desktop and web platforms (ArcGIS Online/Portal) for a variety of projects and work efforts; performing a variety of analysis tasks that are related to the development and implementation of the GIS system, and carrying out GIS best practices.
The selected candidate will also: analyze, troubleshoot and resolve
technical issues with geospatial applications to include mobile systems; communicate with
internal and external technical resources to resolve end user issues; develop data quality
assurance methods; develop and maintain automated processing workflows; and create maps,
reports, and presentations in support of various GIS and technology projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Computer Science, Geography, Information Systems or
related degree; Experience working with ESRI ArcGIS products suite, including ArcGIS Desktop
suite and extensions, ArcGIS Online and add-ons (Survey123, Collector/FieldMaps, etc), ArcGIS Portal/Enterprise, and ArcGIS Server (including SDE database connections).
Experience in geodatabase administration principles and demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise geodatabases.
Experience in scripting (Python, JavaScript, SQL, PL/SQL, Model Builder, ETL tools, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree or a GIS Certification.
