SQL Server Developer with data quality, T-SQL, legacy migration and healthcare experience

This position will be supporting system data migration and data management while ensuring data integrity, accuracy, validity and completeness of communicable disease data.
Responsibilities
The Public Health Data system specialist will be responsible for most of the data migration activities from the source system to the Virginia Electronic Disease Surveillance System (VEDSS) in addition to other data management activities as assigned by the PHI Systems manager. Activities may include:
• Explore and understand the data structure and contents in the source system
• Assist in the data quality and data cleanup processes
• Assist in gathering and documenting data needs and migration requirements for use in the migration tool design, as well as requirements for reports, workflows and data requests
• Perform frequent complex SQL development while assisting the migration team in all assigned migration tasks
• Assist in testing and validation at each stage of the migration into the VEDSS system
• Create and maintain documentation of processes, procedures and manuals
• Assist in managing and maintaining the confidentiality and security of the data at all times.
• Provide users’ access administration and user guidance on the system
• Assist in the modification and maintenance of data management processes
• Assist in responding to data requests, data analysis and reporting using T-SQL scripts
• Provide assistance in various data management activities as assigned
Qualifications
• Knowledge of public health disease surveillance
• Strong and current experience in using SQL query language in data management, analysis and reporting in MS SQL server environment.
• Considerable knowledge & experience in database structure and design in the MS SQL server environment.
• Experience migrating legacy data to a new data system
• Experience with VEDSS or other reportable disease/health related information systems & management; including servers, web applications and its associated databases.
• Experience in providing systems technical support and assistance to end users
• Considerable knowledge of data quality management and procedures.
• Ability to analyze & develop solutions to data problems in a logical and systematic manner;
• Knowledge in maintaining data integrity and confidentiality processes
• Ability to manage and maintain large volumes of data using manual and automated techniques for investigation and resolution of data quality issues
• Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
