State Compensation Board (SCB) is seeking a SQL SVR DBA. Responsibilities of this position include the design, development, implementation, integrity and support of the enterprise SQL Server database and C# based applications.
This is a Richmond office-based position. Some telework possible but majority of role will be ON SITE. Parking is NOT provided for contractors.
Interviews will be conducted IN PERSON. Please make sure your candidate agrees to these arrangements before submitting!

To note: SCB does NOT have an full time role open currently, however, they would like to consider the right candidate for contract to hire option should a FTE role open up after 6 months. The candidate would need to go thru the reg hiring process if the FTE option is of interest to them at that time. This also means that at the candidate will need to be eligible for FTE as sponsorship is not available. Salary conversion will be based on performance and state salary levels for similar roles – to be discussed after performance as contractor has been assessed at 6 mo timeframe.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE INCLUDES:
• Ability to identify requirements, design/develop data models, logical and physical databases, data dictionaries and schemas.
• Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.
• Design and develop database objects, tables, stored procedures, views and triggers in MS SQL Server.
• Design and develop reports using MS SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
• Create and manage ETLs using MS SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
• Assist C# developers with complex query development, tuning, and optimization.
• Configure and maintain database servers and processes, monitor system health and performance, ensuring high levels of performance, availability, capacity planning, and security.
• Participate in the development and deployment of the Disaster Recovery Plan.
• Manage the deployment of database scripts in development, test and production environments.
• Develops complex PowerShell scripts
• Maintain C# and SQL application code
• Develops and maintains system documentation.
• Strong communication skills to support all project phases, in particular technical and business requirement discussions.
• Participate in C# and SQL code reviews and walk-throughs.
• Self-motivated, organized, independent, and proactive.

Experience and Education:
• 5+ years in database design, development, optimization and administration of MS SQL Server.
• 3+ years C#.
• Experience with the installation, configuration and support for MS SQL Server 2012 or newer.
