REQUIRED SKILLS (RANK IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE):
Experience in designing and implementing enterprise level systems architectures. Demonstrated knowledge/skills of the IT industry which includes multi-tiered architectures, enterprise applications, evaluation of emerging technologies, networks, data management systems and hardware systems. Ability to plan, organize, direct and review the work of technical personnel. Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with clients, technical staff, management, vendors and others. Knowledge of the principles and techniques of planning programs and work activities in a technical environment. Strong hands-on working experience with required technologies and advanced problem-solving skills. Extensive knowledge of viruses and other sources of system vulnerability to proactively develop protections, particularly when deploying system-wide changes that can open up new vulnerabilities.
PREFERRED SKILLS (RANK IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE):
5+ years working as an engineer with Linux to include troubleshooting, tuning, upgrading, monitoring and patching.5+ years’ experience with VMware / Microsoft Server related experience; or equivalency2+ years’ experience with a configuration/deployment management tool (e.g. Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Salt)Certifications related to cloud based and on premises systems architecture(e.g. AWS, Azure, etc.)

SCOPE OF THE PROJECT:
Responsible for applying technology and designing system architectures to align with organizational strategic business objectives. This position will be responsible for optimal performance of the University’s technical infrastructure and delivery of services to our customers. Particular areas include; technical operations processes and projects to install & support state-of-the-art compute, storage, network and cloud platforms. Researches, designs, develops, writes and tests new complex computer technologies. Consults with project managers, analysts, programmers, administrators, and other IT professionals on issues such as system design, limitations and capabilities, performance requirements, interfaces and maintenance on a limited basis. Researches new technologies and applies new ideas to enterprise business needs. Performs server patches to ensure fixes and improvements are up to date. Performs post-mortem problem investigations to identify and correct inconsistencies and problems with operating system and application installations.
DAILY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Identifies resources required for extensive Linux and Windows design and deployments including upgrades, expansions, and enhancements in physical and virtual environments. Configures and installs server hardware and software to meet requirements and conform to technical design standards. Performance monitoring and problem analysis and resolution. Documents information and network systems outages, changes and procedures.
