SQL Svr DBA needed to compare new SQL Server configuration for new 2016 environment against older 2008 environment. Take lead in the migration of databases from old to new environment.

This is a short term assignment (no plans to extend after the hours are exhausted!)
Sr. SQL Server Database Administrator (2008 Server Remediation project)
Job Duration – 12 Weeks (up to 400 hours) – whichever occurs first. No plan to extend after the 400 is exhausted.
Hours worked each week – We want someone that can work at least 24 hours each week, but can work up to 40 hours (so a part-time resource than can work a minimum of 24 hours or a full-time resource would work 40 – their choice).
Work location – All work must be performed onsite at DGS (Downtown Richmond). This is NOT a remote assignment.
Work Hours: Some flexibility with contractor start/end time each day but they will be required to be ONSITE (no remote work) onsite on days worked between the core hours of 8:30a-3:30p for the duration of this assignment.
Job Description:
• Compare new SQL Server configuration for new 2016 environment against older 2008 environment. Take lead in the migration of databases from old to new environment.
• Help create new test or other environments as needed.
• Tweak configuration to Optimize SQL Servers/Databases.
• Change/Configure Port Settings.
• Provide training/best practices overview with System Administrator and Oracle DBA.
• Ensure industry-wide security standards are implemented properly.
• Performance tuning long running queries.
• Recommend test tools for monitoring SQL Servers, Data/Schema Compare, etc.
• Provide SQL Server environment documentation as requested.
• Setup proper notifications on failures on backups or other database functions.
• Setup log shipping from Prod to Test server for standby databases
• Check/Monitor Drive Volumes Space and configure alerts
• Patch Management to apply latest available security patches
Minimal Position Requirements:
• 10+ years of experience in data integration, data movement and SQL database.
• Proficient in SQL Server 2012-2017 (expert level)
• Experience with SQL Server replication (transactional, snapshot)
