1.DegreeCandidate must possess a BSc/BA in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline; professional certification (e.g. Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)) is a plus
2.Web Server System Administrator ExperienceCandidate must demonstrate 5+ years of progressive web server system administrator experience
3.Infrastructure for Databases and Software Systems Experience
Candidate must demonstrate 5+ years of managing infrastructure for databases and software systems
4.System Security Knowledge
Candidate must demonstrate knowledge of system security (e.g., intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery
5.Ability to Implement Automation Processes
Candidate must demonstrate the ability to implement automation processes for system provisioning and configuration
6.Operating Systems and Platforms Familiarity
Candidate must demonstrate familiarity with various operating systems and platforms (Windows Server, IIS, etc.)
7.Containerization Management Experience
Candidate must demonstrate the Experience with containerization management (Docker, Kubernetes, Mesos, OpenShift)
8.Resourcefulness and Problem-Solving AptitudeCandidate must demonstrate resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude

Summary:
The Utah State Board of Education (USBE) is working on a comprehensive modernization initiative to replace legacy software systems, referred to as the Utah Schools Information Management System (USIMS). Working for the USBE is a rare opportunity to use a combination of the latest technologies, best-of-breed software packages and custom development to deploy a refreshed code base and associated reporting applications and reports.
We are looking for a Web Application System Administrator to join our team with the goal of ensuring the technology infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently. In this position, you will maintain, upgrade and manage software, hardware and networks. To be successful in this position, you will need to possess problem-solving skills, a technical mind and an in-depth knowledge of computer systems and the ability to communicate with a variety of interdisciplinary teams and users.

Responsibilities:
• Provision on-premise and cloud infrastructure to support development efforts
• Manage web server and container management
• Set up accounts
• Develop system maintenance plans
• Produce scripts in Powershell and other languages
• Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements
• Contribute to the creation of Disaster Recovery Plans
• Troubleshoot issues and outages
• Ensure security through correctly provisioning access controls, firewalls and system configuration
• Ensure system recovery by orchestrating backup plans
• Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies
