The IT Desktop/Network Engineer will provide IT desktop and Network support for DVS offices. The position will be responsible for providing support to 40 DVS’s remote sites and Head quarters. This role is an onsite position with some (20%) travel to remote sites in the Virginia. Any required travel will be reimbursed. More details will be shared around travel if they are selected for an interview.
A state vehicle will be provided and all travel reimbursed. Must have valid dirvers license to be considered.
Parking is NOT provided for contractors when ON SITE.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The IT Desktop / Network Engineer will fulfill service requests, resolve network related incidents and solution problems, while supporting changes to servers, applications, databases, and support rollout of new equipment, including PCs, mobile devices, and DVS enterprise networks. This position will provide support to the agency’s End Users and Network Operations.
Training in IT Network or Infrastructure Support. At least five years of relevant experience in IT service desk and network/infrastructure support.
The ability to set up, configure, upgrade, manage, and troubleshoot routers, switches and wireless access points. The ability to set up Voice and Ethernet cabling, firewalls, switching, IP security, and a variety of Internet service types (Cable, DSL, Point to Point and MPLS services. The ability to resolve issues related to desktop and laptop PC hardware, desktop software, general application troubleshooting, mobile devices (IOS and Android), and various telephone systems (VOIP, analog, Centrex, etc.). Perform hands-on and in-depth technical installation, configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and recovery of key agency assets and capabilities. Develop and implement procedures, documentation and job aids for continuously improving the security, availability, ease-of-use, and ease-of-operation of these assets and capabilities.
The ability to lead and manage projects. Support the day-to-day operation, administration, maintenance, and management of IT operations. Demonstrated ability to apply IT in solving business problems. Highly self-motivated, self-directed, and attentive to detail with excellent customer service skills.
