On Site Purchasing/Financial Analyst with procurement, Child Welfare experience

Location: Jackson, MS MDCPS
Duration: 12 months
Work will be onsite with occasional remote work allowed.

Required Skills/Experience:
TO BE CONSIDERED, all proposed consultants must meet the following mandatory requirements:
-Bachelor’s degree.
-Preferred but not necessary, 8 years of related experience.
-Experience working in a fast paced, cross-functional, and multi-team environment.
-Demonstrate skills utilizing the Microsoft Office Suite of tools and expert proficiency of Excel is a must, ability to
formulate detailed analysis.
-Knowledge and experience with IT procurement.
-Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Preferred/Not Required:
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-Experience in Child Welfare processes and workflows
-Knowledge and experience with MAGIC functionality and processes
-Ability to communicate effectively
-Ability to build a positive rapport with team members.

Position Description and Job Skill Set
OBJECTIVE:
MDCPS seeks an experienced professional with a broad understanding of solutions, industry best practices, multiple
business processes, and a focus on IT purchasing and financial planning. Clearly understands Mississippi’s financial
and procurement regulations/guidelines. Operates independently to provide quality work to an engagement. Performs
varied and complex duties and tasks that need independent judgment to meet customer needs. Effectively consults
with management. Participate in business development activities. Develop detailed solutions for rather involved
projects.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is part-time (20 hours weekly) and requires an individual to assist with IT budgeting, financial tracking, and
procurement transactions. Provide support to the CIO and other staff as it relates to financial and procurement services.
This individual will also provide consulting services to the CIO and the agency executive staff when required.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
-Oversee the release, schedule, completeness and tracking of all IT related capital and non-capital projects. Manage
project funds using MAGIC, where appropriate, to maximize the expenditures and minimize the cost.
-Support the financial reporting and analysis for overall IT spend.
-Support audit & budgeting processes.
-Provide management with ad hoc analysis and reporting as needed. Assist in compiling, developing, and preparing
data for the annual IT budget utilizing historical and current data.
-Consult and assist in training MDCPS support staff on best practices.
