Grants Manager
The Grants Manager position will be responsible for planning and directing the grants management activities for the Tennessee Department of Health, Division of Health Disparities Elimination. This position will develop and maintain a portfolio of grants and contracts, including federal, state, and local funding. The position will prepare status reports for grants, contracts, and budgets. Maintaining knowledge of grants and contracts and respective budgets to assist in compliance with finance and administrative guidelines, deadlines, and audits is a core function of the position. This position will assist with budget preparation, monitoring expenditures, and preparing and monitoring contracts. The position will also identify and develop strategies to optimize the grants administration process.

RESPONSIBILITIES/WORK ACTIVITIES

The position’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Develop grant monitoring procedures and processes
Monitor and report on grants to the state and on grants from the state to other entities
Prepare reports and develop databases relative to grants development and administration
Train new staff on grants management and reporting requirements
Provide consultation and technical assistance to internal and external staff, contractors, and subcontractors of grants and cooperative agreements
Attend grant review and update meetings and provide administrative information as needed
Analyze grant budget trends and make recommendations for cost control
Monitor monthly and quarterly budget spend down and systems to track financial and grant administration deadlines
Prepare and obtain necessary documents for grant-funded programs and provide detailed reports to key staff and leadership

Demonstrated knowledge of grant management cycle design, monitoring, and evaluation
Outstanding written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and lay audiences

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree and experience equivalent to five years of full-time grants management, grant analytics, or grants administration experience
Master’s degree preferred
OTHER REQUIREMENTS/INFORMATION

This is a hybrid position and must be available to report to the office at minimum 1 or 2 times per month or more as needed.
The candidate must reside in or be willing to relocate to Tennessee.The standard work week will be 37.5 hours.
