The Technical Writer (Technical Writer 2) position at the Texas Education Agency will work on the Texas Student Data System project which supports the mission of the agency of improving outcomes for Texas students. Responsibilities include advanced and highly complex (senior level) user documentation. The core responsibilities for this position include researching and writing Help systems or User Guides to support changes to TEA applications and data collections affected by House Bill 3 for inexperienced to moderately experienced users of web applications and supporting the existing FTE Technical Writer.

Technical Writer must be highly adept at Adobe RoboHelp, Microsoft Word, and screen capture and editing tools. Technical Writer must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and must be able to work with multiple project teams and business users to gain an overall understanding of an application’s functionality and the tasks users are required to perform. Technical Writer must be strongly self-motivated and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously. Technical Writer must be able to work under minimal supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. This position serves the agency mission by providing guidance and support to school systems for state-mandated data collections.
