Desktop support engineer with active directory, windows, iOS/Mac, A+, Network+ and networking experience

Location: Richmond , VA (UMW) (local candidates strongly preferred)

*Must have own transportation – role is 100% ON SITE starting Day One. Parking will be provided for the contractor. Must be able to pass a 7 yr national criminal background check that includes the sex offender registry.

Skills:

Experience connecting devices to wired and wireless networks, w/in Microsoft AD environments. Required 4 Years
Experience with Windows and/or Mac operating systems Required 4 Years
A+, Network+, Dell, Apple, Crestron or other technical certification(s) Highly desired 4 Years
Ability to positively interact with a diverse population including faculty, staff, students, and peers in a higher-education environment Highly desired 4 Years
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and individually Highly desired 4 Years

This is a technical position in IT Support Services (ITSS) providing computer hardware and software support to the UMW community by configuring, upgrading, and repairing university-owned computers, including desktop and laptops (PC and Mac), printers, mobile devices, software packages, etc.

The individual configures personal computers to access the university wired and wireless
networks. This position provides in-person, phone-based, or remote support to users following
established university and departmental procedures. This position performs duties located on
any UMW campus or affiliated entity. They will be responsible for configuring and installing all
University-owned systems following all established policies and procedures. Also will install
software on University-owned equipment, adhering to licensing restrictions and UMW policy.
Will be required to work independently with limited supervision to complete all tasks.

3-5 years of required experience with:
-Demonstrated skills in the troubleshooting and repair of desktop computers, printers
and peripherals.
-A positive customer-service philosophy.
-Good documentation and communication skills.
-Considerable experience supporting user technical issues with various computing
hardware, software and peripherals including troubleshooting, repairing, installing,
upgrading and networking.
-Experience connecting devices to wired and wireless networks, Microsoft AD
-environments.
-Experience with Windows and/or Mac operating systems.

Preferred:

-A+, Network+, Dell, Apple, Crestron or other technical certification(s).
-Ability to positively interact with a diverse population including faculty, staff,
students, and peers in a higher-education environment.
-Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and individually.
