ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Virginia Department of Education (DOE), Office of System Development and Databases is seeking a qualified and experienced individual to serve on the Applications Development Team for a medium-term project. In this role the developer will be modernizing a grants management application that was previously built in-house. This includes but is not limited to working within our defined standard to enhance reporting, streamline the user experience, establish new features/functionalities, and overall modernize the look and feel of the application. Work will be completed with a small project team including at least two java developers, a business analyst and support from our database developer team (potentially a dedicated database developer resource as well).
Job Description:
· Developing and maintaining VDOE supported full stack web based Java/JEE applications with RDBMS using standard methods and tools.
· Maintaining all current applications per user requirements.
· Contributing to ad hoc reporting; adhering to DOE and state software standards.
· Providing the data needed by the data group.
· Utilizing the current infrastructure and technology to maintain a stable and secure development environment.
