General Job Description:
The following are deemed the most important in order for the applicant to make an immediate contribution to our organization:
• Windows and Linux administration experience in server setups and configurations as fileservers and database servers (MySQL and SQL-Server).
Triage server issues and document root cause analysis.
IIS configuration including security modifications
Implementing CIS recommendations to NGINX, IIS, WordPress.
Resolving server security scan issues.
Server and database level performance monitoring and metrics.
Knowledge of firewalls and common port usage.
• Visible contextual experience in the above areas. *this is a key requirement. We want to see where/how they applied their knowledge and experience.
• There will be little to no hand-holding for the selected candidate so the resume needs to illustrate what they have accomplished.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This resource will work as part of the Virginia Department of Health, Office of Information Management (OIM-DBA) team. The team member will assist in maintenance and administration of SQL Server databases that support critical multi-tier applications implemented mostly in Windows environment using MS suite of tools. The resource will also support administration and maintenance of the agency website that uses WordPress/MySQL set-up. The OIM-DBA team is currently tasked with developing a migration plan to transition from traditional data center environment to the Cloud infrastructure (private/AWS/Azure); the resource will help in coordinating this effort, provide technical assistance in configuring the new set-up with emphasis on security, compile test plans, implement and adopt new features, set-up monitoring and automate processes; document time and effort. The contractor should be able to work and communicate with vendors if required and share timely updates with the team.
