The NC Department of Transportation Communications Office is seeking a Web Content Coordinator to help create and edit content for the North Carolina Department of Transportation’s public facing website, NCDOT.gov. Responsibilities will include working with clients and staff to convert technical information about projects and initiatives into easy-to-understand content targeted at the general public. This candidate must have proven and demonstrated experience in editing and writing content, according to AP Style, for tone, clarity, conciseness, and comprehension; creating and editing web pages; and maintaining a consistent style throughout all web pages. This position will be assigned to the state Transportation Building, 1 South Wilmington St., Raleigh. (Note: if necessary, special accommodations will be made during the pandemic).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

•Experience working in web and digital communications
•Experience with SharePoint page editing or another CMS is a plus
•Experience using journalistic principles and practices (including use of AP Style, strong editorial judgment, writing) as well as critical-thinking skills under tight deadlines,
•Experience effectively writing about complex issues quickly and accurately and organizing it into scannable, concise web format that can be understood by a variety of audiences,
•Experience handling multiple projects/priorities simultaneously with tight deadlines
•Experience using analytics to measure impact and success as well as to help drive content decisions
•Ability to effectively organize and present large amounts of content to end users
•Knowledge in principles of content management
