Minimum Requirements:
Years Skills/Experience
3 Writing technical materials to include development of manuals, reports, videos, and other forms of media.
3 Familiarity with document management systems and software
3 Experience in maintenance and supply requirements/processes. Strong electrical background desired.
3 Advanced computer skills to manage client server, internet/intranet, and software applications.
3 Excellent oral and written communication skills
3 Effective problem solving using rigorous logic

Under general guidelines, writes high quality technical documents, may perform validation and verification of engineering changes, creates database systems, may serve as Engineering inventory liaison, shall administer the Electronic Parts Catalog System, and coordinates the Problem Improvement Program for Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Engineering Department. Expected to produce high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience. Will determine the needs of end users of business and technical documentation. Will standardize content across DART document control repository platforms and DART document control distribution outlets and revise documents as new issues arise.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities
1. Acts as a resource to and a liaison between divisions and other DART Operations departments to develop, review, prepare, revise, and/or edit high quality statements of work, product specifications, sole source justifications, brand name only requirements, Independent Cost Estimates (ICE), Request for Information (RFI), electronic Procurement Requisition (ePR) and other standardized documents.
2. Responsible for all document formatting, layout, template creation and general content. Uses document control system to control revisions.
3. Determine the needs of end users of technical documentation. When and/or where directed, performs technical research, validation and verification of engineering changes by studying product samples and collaborating with Operations Engineering staff and/or Suppliers.
4. Researches, organizes, outlines, and coordinates requirements for material inventory associated with DART’s MCQ1 workflow requests. May serve as an Engineering inventory liaison on the DART Material Review Committee (MRC).
5. Create clear and concise operating procedures/instructions, how-to manuals/online videos, assembly instructions, and ‘frequently asked questions’ pages using photographs, drawings, diagrams, animation and charts to support Engineering staff and other end users within DART.
6. Develops technical reports of tests and investigations using analysis data provided by staff.
7. Acts as facilitator for the Problem Improvement Program.
8. Administers the Electronic Parts Catalog System; coordinates upgrades, changes and provides necessary end user support and resources. Maintains document accuracy.
9. Assists with development of technical databases and documents as required by Engineering.
10. Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures.
