The Department of Commerce’s Labor and Economic Analysis Division (LEAD) is seeking an Expert Tableau Developer to re-envision and deliver interactive data visualizations and lay-friendly analytical tools in Tableau. This is an end-user and business-facing role, and the candidate will have regular interactions with stakeholders. The work products will be public-facing and therefore must be user-friendly and polished.

Key Responsibilities:
·Collaborate with business owners, end users, and other stakeholders to identify needs and goals and work collaboratively to design and build dashboards.
·Collaborate to design impactful dashboards and reports.
·Advise on visualization best practices and performance optimization strategies. In particular, advise data managers regarding the most efficient and expandable data file structures to support current and potential future visualizations.
·Perform development activities from gathering requirements and designing solutions, to developing code/reports, to guiding agency personnel through testing and release/deployment.
·Develop all resources as turnkey products, such that agency personnel will have both the required knowledge and documentation to continue managing and modifying the visualizations as needed. Document processes, transformations, computations, and key decision points in detail. Conduct the necessary knowledge transfer.
·As needed, develop Tableau Prep workflows for data cleaning, transformation, aggregation, etc.
·Manage multiple, variable tasks and data review processes with limited supervision within targeted timelines and thrive in a demanding, quickly changing environment.
·Communicate frequently and substantively with the agency project manager to ensure efficient use of time and resources.

Minimum Qualifications:
·Experience configuring Tableau to support scaling Tableau usage to the enterprise – this may include operationalizing a governance framework for Tableau assets, developing reports to provide transparency around asset usage etc.
·8+ years’ experience leveraging Tableau to deliver dashboards and reporting capabilities at enterprise scale.
·Tableau certification(s) preferred
·Experience using Tableau Prep for data preparation / lightweight integration & transformation
·At least 10 years working with data (data engineering, Data scientist, BI analyst, BI developer etc.)
·Government experience preferred, either as employee or contractor.
·Proficiency with SQL and/or other query languages and understanding of data warehouse environments and relational database management systems. Ability to write complex queries, joins.
·Experience designing and developing reporting solutions/dashboards in a professional environment.
·Demonstrated ability to apply best practices in visualization techniques to design meaningful and impactful dashboards/reporting solutions.
·Excellent communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team with proven ability to influence with impact across functions and disciplines.
·Ability to manage multiple projects/deadlines, identifying the necessary steps and moving forward through completion.
