QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in an IT related field and applicable Microsoft professional or expert certification.
Candidates must have 5+ years of IT experience with at least 2 years in an operations engineer capacity.
Candidates must demonstrate broad knowledge and expertise in multiple technologies such as Microsoft AAD solutions, containers, virtualization, server administration, client administration, and a clear understanding of identity management architecture principles.
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to communicate in language that non-tech people can understand and in being adept at producing architectural diagrams and presentations for use in communication with various levels of management and staff in both the business and IT.
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to manage relationships while demonstrating persistence and problem-solving and the ability to prioritize tasks.
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to adapt to new and changing situations.
Candidates must possess the ability to recognize forward-looking business needs along with industry, business and IT trends.

Summary:
The Utah State Board of Education’s Information Technology (IT) department is modernizing its Active Directory (AD) infrastructure throughout the organization to Azure AD (AAD).  This includes replacing/updating outdated hardware, software, and business practices.  Working for the USBE is a rare opportunity to use a combination of the latest technologies, best of breed practices, and first-rate environment designed to support current and future requirements. We are looking for a high-energy, adaptive team player with a great work ethic to join our IT team as an Operations Engineer.

Responsibilities:
• Work with the technology team to design and implement a new AAD environment to replace the legacy AD infrastructure.
• Responsible for mapping the business requirements to system/technical requirements.
• Recommend alternatives for how to migrate the legacy AD records to best align with business needs and to optimize maintainability/performance
• Research new software tools and technologies, create and evaluate prototypes, and provide recommendations to IT management
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to ensure that the AAD architecture is aligned with business requirements
• Lead evaluation of software and techniques to be used within the AAD architecture
• Design solutions for scalability
• Provide guidance, direction and support to IT Operations fellow engineers, system administrators, and database administrators.
