Java Developer with Python, XML, C++, HTML, SQL and ORM/Hibernate experience

Minimum Qualifications
– Five (5) years’ experience in Developer/Programmer role
o A Master’s degree substitutes for three years of experience, or a Bachelor’s degree substitutes for two years, or an Associate’s degree substitutes for one year
– Two (2) engagements lasting more than six (6) months in Developer/Programmer role
Desired Skills
– Proven experience as a programmer or relevant role
– Ability to program in languages such as HTML, C++, Java (J2EE), XML, Python etc.
– Excellent knowledge with relational databases, SQL and ORM technologies
– Detail-oriented and excellent concentration ability
– An analytical mindset and critical thinking
– Demonstrable ability to discover and fix errors in code
– Strong communication skills
– Ability to work independently and in team settings
Sample Tasks
– Collaborate with business analysts and developers to produce software designs
– Formulate program specifications and basic prototypes
– Transform software designs and specifications into high functioning code in the appropriate language
– Integrate individual software solutions to higher level systems
– Use web-based tools to create and advance applications
– Test code periodically to ensure it produces the desirable results and perform debugging when necessary
– Perform upgrades to make software and systems more secure and efficient
– Collaborate with technical writers to create documentation for user support
Description of Project
MNIT @ MnDOT is requesting developer assistance for MnDOT’s application preservation initiative. The developer will be assigned programming or code evaluation tasks by the application preservation team lead or project manager. The developer will need to analyze current code for compatibility issues that may arise from moving to one server stack to another, recommend updates and perform those updates as assigned. Work is expected to be on-site at 395 John Ireland Blvd., St. Paul, MN 55155.
