SCOPE OF THE PROJECT:
The South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) has an immediate need for a Business Analyst to assist the South Carolina First Steps to Readiness with gathering business requirements and help in determining what type of data systems they would benefit from implementing. The bulk of the requirement would be someone with the knowledge and skills to perform the typical tasks associated with supporting end-user Windows workstations, peripheral devices and office productively software. Most of the support would be over the phone, but the person will need to go on location if the issue cannot be fixed over the phone.

****This requirement would be for someone to be onsite in New Bern, NC on a daily basis, 35 – 40 hours per week.

The City of New Bern is advertising a full time position for this role. If the candidate does well in the role he or she will be asked to apply. The salary for that position is around $43,000.

• BS/BA degree or equivalent experience
• Advanced knowledge of application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines
• Understanding of architecture and design across all systems
• Working proficiency in developmental toolsets
• Ability to collaborate with high-performing teams and individuals throughout the firm to accomplish common goals
• Proficiency in one or more general purpose programming languages (Hadoop, Spark SQL, Hive, Impala, Pig, Kafka)
• Understanding of software skills such as business analysis, development, maintenance and software improvement
• 3-5 years experience in Big Data technologies, machine learning, and utilities
• Experience utilizing and extending ETL solutions (e.g., Informatica, Talend, Pentaho, Ab Initio) in a complex, high-volume data environment
• Experience with scheduling & data integration tools like Control-M and Ni-Fi is highly desired.
• Strong exposure in Data Management, Governance and Controls functions
